It’s official- no more JCPenney Big Book Catalog

by LisaB on January 26, 2011

On my drive to work yesterday morning I learned JCPenney will no longer publish its Big Book Catalog. (The first catalog was published in 1963)

The retailer’s exit of its legacy catalog business includes shuttering 19 outlet stores that carry a large amount of catalog merchandise. Penney announced in November that it would stop publishing its twice-yearly “big book” catalogs. -from the Associated Press

This sort of made me sad because I remember spending the night at my grandma and grandpa’s house as a kid and looking at the JCPenney Catalog “for hours.”

I would dream of one day owning the Barbie Dream House or a Merlin hand held electronic game.

But nobody “looks at catalogs” anymore. We’re in the Internet age and JCPenney’s business move to do away with their catalog is probably a smart one (but I can still be sad about it!)

I’m not daydreaming about the toy section in the catalog anymore but if you have a child or need to buy a toy for an upcoming birthday gift check out the RED CLEARANCE section at JCPenney going on now- click HERE.

Here’s a deal for a girl that caught my eye:

Get a 3-pack of dolls with accessories for $4.99 (regularly $19.99)

And boys will like this deal:

Get a Hot Street Glory remote control car for $19.99 (regularly $59.99)
